Apple Crumble Pie

Was planning to bake this week HCB's Blueberry Plum Upside-down Torte but trip to the supermarket for blueberries and plums made me change my mind.  They were expensive and i wasn't sure if i like soggy top cakes.  So i ended up buying granny smith apples instead and baked apple pie..lol!  Honestly, to tell you guys the truth, i'm a bit sick of cakes.  I needed to take a break and bake something else!

I sms-ed a friend and she emailed me her recipe. I tweaked the filling a bit, adding raisins and a bit of brandy.  I should have bought more apples since they were quite small...thus ended up with not enough filling imo.

But overall, it's yummy and delicious! Every one in my family enjoyed it.. i guess probably everyone got sick of eating cakes weekly too..hahahaha

and .... Happy 45th Birthday Singapore!

Wow, this looks delish! I specialize in decorated cookies and fondant cakes but have no desire to eat them. This pie, on the other hand makes my mouth water!!! YUM!

Your pie looks yummy. Nothing better than apple pie and the kind with crumble on top is one of my favorites.

Good for you for being honest about the cake burn-out. As much as I love doing this, it is like an endurance test. About 30 cakes to go! :)

looks fabulous! And yes, you are right - sometimes you need a bit of a break from cake.

Yummy!!! Will you share the recipe?? I'm not much of a pie baker...chocolate pecan at Thanksgiving is about the extent of it.

Hey, Faithy! Sorry for MIA! Been busy and tired ...

That's why I'm reluctant to join blogging events e.g. Daring Bakers, Daring Cooks, Tuesdays With Dorie and whatnot because they require commitment. I can't with my full-time day job and a busy schedule. Also, many ingredients are seasonal, like blueberries. No worries, I doubt you need to commit to the event weekly.

Your pie looks good, so long as it's flavorful, who cares about the amount of the filling! I can finish the plate of pie for you!

Who doesn't like apple crumble? Great idea in switching the fruit. I know what you mean about too much of one thing. Variety is good!
